What Makes Rugby Special

I've had a week to absorb the events in Dublin (see last post).

No other international sport that I know of could have been the backdrop to the transforming and reconciling event we were part of at Croke Park. There is something inherently good and fair about the people who play and watch the game. The crowd, both Irish and English were a credit to themselves. The players, both victorious and vanquished (and these words are very appropriate considering the score) were equally dignified.

Within 24 hours at Cardiff, we saw overpaid, undisciplined yobs bring nothing but disgrace to their sport, their clubs and themselves.

God help us if football (soccer) had been the sport played last Saturday in Croke Park.
